Proud of our Catholic Identity
Faith-filled since day one
At St. John Bosco Catholic School, we're proud of our Catholic identity. Our faith is the very foundation of our school and our parish. Established in 1934, the day our patron saint was canonized, education has always been at the heart of St. John Bosco Parish. Founded by Msgr. P.J. Schmid, principal of Catholic Central High School, now known as Bishop Noll Institute, he saw the need for religious instruction in the developing South Hammond and Woodmar communities. As the post-war 'Baby Boom' was unfolding, the community rallied together to construct its own school for the formation of Catholic students.
Welcoming all, embracing all
The South Hammond and Woodmar neighborhoods have always been a 'melting pot,' welcoming all. In fact, the 46324 zip code remains one of Indiana's most diverse.
Be disciples. Be missionaries.
Our call is to form disciples in the Roman Catholic tradition, and in a particular way to form Catholic disciples. While we welcome all, students will be taught Roman Catholic catechetical teachings, moral theology consistent with magisterial teaching, participate in traditional devotional practices like the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Stations of the Cross during Lent, and students beyond Early Learning will worship in Mass at least twice each week.
